Where gives that high of a signing bonus? I call BS
Because I am currently 30 and saved enough before the bonus for this to put me over the line. Hadn't thought to calculate net worth until I realized this would put me close.

How does a big bonus make you a millionaire by 30?
Leaving for a strategy role in industry. Sign on is high because I'm agreeing to take an initial total comp pay cut (~15-20%) and I have relevant expertise for the role that is difficult to find.
At Silicon Valley tech companies you can negotiate bonuses easier than pay especially if they have fixed scales. I asked for a 50% increase in signing and they didn't blink. Made me wish I'd asked for more.

Talk about short-sightedness. Never take a pay cut in terms of salary. Sounds like you took a pay cut in total comp as well.
