“Your performance in answering that question determined that was a lie” - Maury
happened to me a couple weeks ago. Basically forgot English tbh...
Yeah I would have hard rejected that answer OP. Now that the pressure is off, how will answer it next time with real substance?

Happens to me still and I’ve been interviewing like mad over the past 2 months.
If it’s a video call i now have a notepad window open with anticipated questions and one word answers to help jump start memory. I noticed if I write down the whole answer it I will just end up reading it verbatim and risk not sounding genuine.

Had one with Amazon. Didn’t sweat it too much because I’m pretty sure it was a set up, meaning the hiring manager didn’t want to hire me ahead of time. It was that transparent and hostile.
Wish companies would align better and have honest convos between HM and HR. Makes no sense to have an interview if you have no absolute intentions of hiring, it just angers your HMs and makes candidates think worse of your company when they receive hostility.

It was so awkward that I should have excused myself.
I wouldn’t sweat it too much. Think of an interview as a two way convo. If in the end you don’t get the offer do you want to work somewhere that used one of the most canned interview questions? I would hope for something more thoughtful.
Damn it was a total joke. I appreciate the sentiments and kind words though.
I know I certainly won’t be saying “humor” as my strength next time.
