Hi All!
I am currently a Senior Software Engineer(Backend) with 4 YOE. My current CTC is 21LPA (All Fixed) with additional Yearly bonus. I got a call from Google (Pune/Bangalore/ Remote) for Software Engineer - Backend. I have the following doubts but any insights are welcome -
1. Does the lower designation offered make any difference?
2. Kinda ambiguous, but what kind of hike or ballpark pay can I expect?
3. Any similar interviews experiences or focus areas I should prepare for?

I don't think it should be, if anything I'd consider the invitation to be a good sign. Definitely follow up with thank you note/email and maybe offer to meet for a coffee or similar in case they wanted to speak with you further.
I would personally view your adherence to a prior commitment (FL or FT) as a positive trait-means you'll take your commitment to work seriously if you were working for me.
Now, if I was a self-involved ass using lunch with a candidate to validate a sense of superiority, perhaps I would hold it against you and not offer you the job. And if that's the case, then you just dodged a bullet by being honest and honoring your commitments.
Send a nice follow up note. And it's also a good sign that the CD is apparently able to take a lunch break.
would've been a good move to do it... could've made a solid connection, if I really liked the agency/cd I would've re prioritized. Hopefully won't be a deal breaker tho!
Definitely should have gone. Don't ever give anyone a reason to not like you during hiring process, even if silly like this. Follow up and apologize for not being able to make it and offer to meet up another time that works for them.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts! I sent a follow-up and note and got the offer :) glad it wasn't a deal-breaker.
Good idea! I just feel like she may have been insulted since she knows I'm not working FT but I did mention freelance project. Hope it's not reason to not hire someone but it went really well aside from that.
Should have just done it
