Haha, time off? I took a full week unplugged—no screens, no notifications, just mountains, coffee, and questionable decisions on hiking trails.
Work-life balance update: 10/10 improved.
I came back dangerously well-rested, answering emails with actual enthusiasm, and my Slack response time dropped from “eventually” to “who is this energized maniac?”

Moral of the story: everyone needs to disappear into the wilderness occasionally. Your brain will thank you, your coworkers will be terrified, and your out-of-office reply will finally tell the truth.
How about you? Did you actually use your PTO this year or are we still hoarding it like apocalypse supplies? 😅

That sounds great. That's actually touching upon the purpose of time off, we're supposed to totally detach ourselves from work. It should be a restorative experience and we come back as better employees. The people who take time off but stay tethered to the job are simply doing it wrong. They may think they're heroes, but they're actually undermining the premise of time off and not being good employees at all.

About to finish my first year. I’m a specialist. Only going to hit 65% of my hours (took a 4 week vacation cause of wedding/hm).

I never say no to work and i have fantastic reviews, and the head of my practice (with whom I work a lot for) has great things to say about me.

I’ve been fully utilized starting ~June, but first few months were slow. Am i fine?!

So I had 3 deals scheduled to either close end of May or mid June which were all pushed to end of June/beginning of July. Which is when I have my first vacation planned for over a year (I take 0 time off). My whole family is flying up and we’re renting a cabin near me. What do I do? I’m running one of the deals, semi running the other one and not doing much leading on the other one. Note: I was supposed to not be running any of these. Do I find a back up first or tell the partners first?

How are you all feeling about going into the holiday season while being remote? Missing the company holiday parties, or happy to be able to do your own thing?

What to do? What to do?

Came back to school in August with a cruise ship still sitting on my stage. We walked away from Anything Goes the day after the sitzprobe because of the quarantine. Still taking the wind out of my sails.

We are here now, but not able to stage shows. Logic says, "Do a radio show!" Just not sure I want to subject the kids to the emptiness of that performance style given the Zoom life they've been living. The production of it could be fun though.

Looking for advice or thoughts. I've been married for about 4-1/2 years, a consistent issue in our marriage is that I either work too much or I'm not available enough. I work in a sales office, 8-5 M-F. Various issues arising at home have required my attention 30+ times in the last 12 months. I have worked from home most of those occasions. We have a real emergency now but my GM says I am pushing the limits. I actually agree with him, but it's causing problems at home. Thoughts?

I don’t think my friend has quarantined long enough to be sitting with 6 people driving in a van to our location unmasked as well as in the hotel room. Would you go on this trip?
