Has anyone actually found a fractional role that stays within its hourly boundaries? It seems like they are just a way for companies to get 40 hours of work out of you while paying for 10. I keep getting offered these 10 hours a week advisory gigs that somehow involve me being on-call for Slack pings 24/7. It’s not flexibility if I can’t actually take on other clients.

I was recently offered a Zoom interview. The school had 10 interview slots for me to choose from. Three were one day this week and the rest are next week. I chose the first time slot available. Should I have waited until one of the last slots so I was fresher on their mind when choosing a candidate? I am just sitting here stressing out until I here something. Also, do interviewers still appreciate a hand written thank you for the interview?

I am in a tech IC position. One of friends switched to FAANG by converting the profile to consultant profile. The friend who might have less tech knowledge than me is now in FAANG and earning more. If the end goal would be that the friend might one day be a product manager and me an engineering manager taking instructions from the same friend, isn't consultant profile an easier path to growth.
