Hi OP - I just got an offer and had to do the first round of case on the phone. It was a general McKinsey case. Nothing different from how you would solve a normal case. Key is:
1. Listen to the interviewer's actual question, clarify if needed
2. Talk out loud through your math problem
3. Give opinions/insights about findings through data or other reasons. Makes them understand that you are actually thinking about the problem not just interviewing
Good luck!!
Thank you!! Congrats on the offer!
If it’s your first phone call with the recruiter it is usually just a basic screening to make sure your YOE match the role they’re hiring for and that you initially seem like a good fit.
had that last week. Recruiter said first round is a 30 min case which I have scheduled for later this week. Trying to figure out what to expect since that’s a pretty tight timeline for a case
