My understanding is that your employer does not need to / have the right to know why you are going on leave (FMLA). You do need a doctor to specify time and duration, and there are rules about how long you need to be with a company before you’re eligible. There may also be state based rules as well.
I’d speak to your hr rep about this. And yes many people take off for rehab, mental health, family illness. Your health is important.
I can assure you that if you are fighting an addiction and need help, it is imperative to make it a priority. Please see link above to find out if your company will support you in doing the most important thing you can do for your life. I wish you the best and please take care.
FMLA - a bunch of ppl I know are burnt out and taking time off for various health reasons. Some go to rehab or take part in mental health program s
You are an ACD so assuming there are people under you, you could talk to someone in the know who you trust outside of HR and mentioned that you were talking to someone on your team about their problems. And you need to know about the agencies policies regarding medical leave. Then go to HR to go into rehab if you hear what you need to hear. Most agencies I’ve had any connection to have had some kind of employee manual that spells that kind of thing out. Even if they would fire you going to rehab is a good option and beats trying to work through any kind of addiction or dependency. Sending you love and hope.
I don’t know a ton about this but I know someone who got hurt, got put on pain killers and two years later ended up in rehab. Agency had his back. But legally, I don’t think they could have fired him even if they wanted to.
Right, if it is a medical situation under short term or long term disability, it is covered by HIIPA. (At least that is my understanding)
