What sort of knowledge transfer and contractual framework do you get the client to agree to and how do you negotiate on that? I feel clients are not always honest and hide a lot of landmines which a consulting company can walk into and blamed for it.

I’m going to do a small consulting project on the side for a small start up company. My current salary is $150k, so ~$83/hr. I think a $100/hr rate for this project is fair, but my spouse thinks it’s low. I am in a tech IC position. One of friends switched to FAANG by converting the profile to consultant profile. The friend who might have less tech knowledge than me is now in FAANG and earning more. If the end goal would be that the friend might one day be a product manager and me an engineering manager taking instructions from the same friend, isn't consultant profile an easier path to growth. I had been practising DSA for years and the competition is only ever growing.

Feeling a little lost. Playing the manager role on a project and leading a team of 7. I report directly into an associate partner but running the entire client engagement on my own. I feel like I am not learning anything from them, no mentorship or guidance. I feel like I haven’t grown at all in the past 6-8 months. I’m someone who learns by doing. How can I grow and learn? 😭
