ALWAYS do what is best for you and your career. The firms have no issues axing people when it is in their interest. Put you first. ALWAYS.
Go for the big 4 firm.
When I was getting internship offers back in 2018, I accepted an offer from Moss Adams - I was then called back for a KPMG interview. I reached out to the Moss Adams recruiter and asked if I could actually defer my acceptance until I had completed all of my offered interviews - they said sure, keep us posted. I ended up receiving and taking an offer from KPMG, and the Moss recruiting team was very understanding!
I know that this is a full time position (vs an intern position), so I'm sure it's a different situation - here's my experience regardless!
Go for big 4. I wen to MM because they gave me a manager title while big 4 gave me only senior. But if for the same title, should go for big4.
It doesn't matter if you just started at another firm. I would go to the interview and see what happens. If you take the offer at big 4 I wouldn't even bother mentioning the mid tier on my resume. None of these firms are loyal to us and would lay us off without a second thought except for their bottom line. Time to start treating these firms the same way. Do what is best for your career and big 4 trumps mid tier every day. At mid tier myself and continue to see them hire from big 4 and choose those to be partners who come from big 4. Even if it was same salary I would go big 4.
What mid tier
Stick with big 4 and tell the other firm you need more time if deadline is coming up
What was the size of your last firm and did you generally like working there?
I was actually part of RIF from PwC and needed a job asap that's why I accepted the offer at mid-tier. But then big 4 requested for a 2nd round of interview. I'm just assuming if I will reach the offer stage at big 4, it might look bad to just leave from mid-tier especially if I just started from their firm. This big 4 I was referring to has really a slow hiring process and I have no idea what's their hiring timeline looks like. I did ask them prior as I was trying to wait for them before accepting the other offer. Big 4 only told me that they were still waiting for a final decision and just recently I have heard from them requesting for a 2nd round of interview.
Thank you! I was actually thinking if I need to put the mid-tier on my resume if it's just a short timeframe but that makes sense as well.
