McKinsey & Company Any advice to help prepare for data science analyst role at top consulting firms (McKinsey & Company EY Boston Consulting Group etc)? Any materials, open source platform recommended to take on freelance data science project? When should I start actively looking and applying? I am a new grad who is working in tech as a marketing analyst I’m looking to pivot to marketing& sales data science consulting next year. Would like someone with similar backgrounds offer some practical tips.
AWS cloud application architect. Had an on-site interview with AWS a few days ago and just got an email saying they want to talk to me about next steps. The role is cloud application architect but I want to ask them about the senior cloud application architect role. I have all the relevant experience for that role and feel like I’d be a better fit for that senior role. How should I approach this conversation? Is this even possible? Amazon

They have reached out to me but I never worked with them.
Yes. I did consultations for GLG, Boston Consulting Group, Quadrant Strategies and a few others. Usually they want specific company or product knowledge: in my case, Oracle was always the subject. So far I’ve probably done 20, perhaps. They ask you to reply to questionnaires to ‘apply’ for each one, and those can be quite involved. The difference between these companies boils down to how good they are at mining their profile database to find the right experts to ask for applications for a given consultation. GLG was very good, and I was successful ~40% of the time. BCG and the rest were less good. Quadrant strategies is not good at this at all, for example, and regularly sends me requests to ‘apply’ to consult on subjects I know nothing about and it feels like a waste of time.
Yes, I've been reached out to several times but haven't worked with them

I have had a few of those over the years and always politely decline. It always feels kind of sketchy like data harvesting and they are targeting my company (not specifically me) or it would be in conflict with my employment agreement. Hard pass!
