Product Manager generally earn less compared to data scientist or data engineer. However you can try to become a platform manager or a data product Manager where there could be more salary and good use of your overall experience
Comparison is the thief of joy..
Alot of these people making higher salaries don't tell you the bad side of their jobs, the stress and tension it brings along..
Everything works out in the end.. Enjoy the moment you are in now
If money is the motivation stick with Data Science, you’ll make more and sounds like you just need to change companies. If you want to get into Product for other reasons the best way to break in as an engineer is to read books, take a course then apply principles to build a product via a side hustle on your off time. These days having an actual product to show and talk about (even if not successful) seems critical for those without experience.
Yeah, data scientists probably make more but I want to get into product becz I enjoy that type of work and feel like that utilizes my skills better. Do you think it's worth spending 6k+ usd for online courses on PM being offered by B schools? I know that the certification on paper itself won't be enough but to learn the skills?
Comparison is tough esp in this app. Honestly depends on where you live. I almost guarantee those salaries are in NYC or SF. I’m in NYC, around 300k but living costs are crazy.
