I don’t think anyone ever has
Went from a Tier 3 to Growth Equity so I guess it is feasible from MBB also. DD experience is preferred but usually not required. Most importantly, you need to show that you are passionate, you have an opinion on different topics and can think like an investor. Good luck!
Have a couple offers right now. Honestly having DD experience is good to get interviews but otherwise they don’t really care what cases you’ve done, moreso that you can show that you can think like an investor. For this I talked about experience presenting to CEOs and boards of directors and having to understand their investor-like mindset in order to add value through the work I was doing for them.
I’m not sure I can generalize across all firms, but most of the people I spoke to were aware that coming from consulting I wouldn’t have as much of a modeling background, but they did ask me how I planned on handling an analytically/modeling heavy role, so do expect those types of questions
Def possible if coming from MBB - I was able to move from MBB to growth equity by doing DDs and also just interesting cases in general (I.e. the rare late stage startup that hired MBB and also had GE investors)
