At Deloitte I would say yes. The “core” aka corporate compliance and provisions group works typically 70% of the hours the financial services group works.
In my region, FS tax probably works the most hours out of any tax group. We don’t get an off-season anymore aside from the month of December. Last year was one long busy season.
Yes, definitely work more. For my group, we have two extra busy seasons due to off year end banks and pension funds.

Fed FS is worse then salt because most fed FS teams have to do the state compliance as well because “the SALT team is over capacity”
