Has anyone moved directly from PhD into industry research roles without prior internships? Many postings request industry experience even at entry level. Skills align, environment does not. Curious how others made the academic-to-industry jump credible.

Internships don’t matter much if I’m being honest
What I mean is if you are applying after finishing one and not being offered a position… you probably shouldn’t apply

I have had a lot of interns and we always offer a full time job to the good ones

That being said if you didn’t do an internship it will have no impact on your chances

Hey all, having issues with interviewing this year. I’ve been passed over every opportunity I really want and I’m unsure how to regroup and move forward. I’m really trying to break into method development roles and I haven’t had the opportunity to do so with my analytical experience. A lot of my HPLC and LCMS experience is with already established methods. Any tips?

I am fairly green in academia (< 1 year) and I want to shift to an area of research which I always wanted to do but never could as a Ph.D. student (because of conflict of interest).
The issue I am facing is that due to lack of my documented research experience in this field (read, lack of papers) I am finding it very hard to land any grant and reviewers keep saying "The PI hasn't demonstrated any experience in said research" blah blah.
Any advice on how to overcome this?
