Has anyone moved from contracting to permanent role in the public sector. I currently work in Accenture at M and my current client who is a local government is interested in having me over as their full time employee. I know the salary may not be as competitive but I’m pretty sure that the WLB will be unmatched. Has anyone been in this situation? I just need to pick your brains in terms of salary and PTO negotiation to strike a win-win situation.

Plenty of us have made the jump on the fed side, but I'm not sure about the local side.

In broad generalities, though, salary and PTO negotiation are limited.

like

Yeah the only thing you can “negotiate” is what step/rank in the fixed schedule you come in at based on your level of expertise and education. When you hit the cap of the fixed rate schedule, your only higher “earning potential” are COLA’s to the schedule. Agree PTO isn’t negotiable, but I have heard from some friends in federal they “negotiated” certain amount of remote days/week post covid. Like the other comments it is pretty much what you see is what you get and it’s all published to the public every year.

like

Appreciate it. I do see a compensation schedule published on their website, wonder how accurate that is.

Government salaries typically follow a fixed schedule, so what you see on the site is likely it.

If you do billable work on a given PTO/vacation day, do you still count that day as vacation? Or do you get that vacation day "back"? Or do you only get the part that you billed "back"? (Or some other option.)

I joined a project that had already started and the team already settled on creating a user journey map, even though none of them are designers or in ux. I also have no experience in this field as I'm a data engineer. The user journey map was for mapping out the process for tenants finding housing assistance, so not a technical product. Given this new field and type of work, I've been having a really tough time. Anyone mind sharing what helped get you through your first ux project?

I feel like I was straight up lied to during the interview process. “lots of opportunities to hit quota”. I’m sitting here with only one demo two months after joining the company. it looks like our team has only two people doing demos, and demos are only happening once every two weeks. At this rate, I don’t think I’ll be even close to hitting OTE. Are there any other companies hiring right now? I’ll have a discussion about my concerns with my manager soon, but there’s too many red flags here.

Hi, where or what types of companies should sophomores & juniors apply for next summer (2022) to recruit for IB the following summer (2023)? This summer BBs wrapped up SA IB recruitment, EBs even earlier, and a fair amount of my friends missed out big time.

Also, if a sophomore or junior doesn’t get a finance-related summer internship (I.e tech) and aims for an IB SA or FT position, is it harder to break in?

Appreciate any advice and insight, thank you.

Hi fishes,
I'm a bit confused please help, I'm a dot net developer with 1.5 yrs exp, so I just wanted to know what's the future of dot net and will it be relevant in near future. Thanks in advance.

I am prior military and went to law school.
