Before you quit - see if you can engineer a long vacation. Usually around the December shut down, I have seen staff plan into a 4 week vacation (a mix of vacation, holiday, firm shut down days). You can get a nice long break - but have the safety of a job waiting for you. You need to start planning for this now (talk to HR, get it on your schedule, etc).

Did this last break. Saved my pto and floating holidays and took off from Thanksgiving to New Years. Went to New Zealand for a month.

I dream and dream about this 💕😴
Take a sabbatical or LOA!

I took two months of last summer. I enjoyed it once I knew I would have a new /better job when coming back. Unless you are mentally strong enough to face the insecurity and what others will say, that's what I would recommend. Get the security of having a new job once you are back and enjoy life until then
Went to South and Central America for a year and came back home when I felt ready. Was the best, you should do it.
I’m about to take a 5 month leave of absence as directed by Deloitte due to Covid. 🤷🏻♀️ (read: furloughed)
do you plan to come back or look for other job? I am in the similar position

You can take a sabbatical at any level. Your job will be there when you return.

Do you have to have a certain number of years with the firm to do this?
Put in for Sabbatical instead?
Lie and say you're caught corona and your symptoms are bad but not severe. That would get you at least a week or two. Just remember not to talk to anyone from your industry and don't post anything incriminating on social media.
