Just leave if they wanted to pay you now they could
If you have great support in KPMG and you like people you work with, you should not change jobs for a few months of incremental raise. Establishing your network at Deloitte will be very hard. Try to get KPMG partners to put their promises in writing. The only reason I’d recommend switching if you have nothing to lose at KPMG.
I think the incremental comment was related to the money lost over the 3 months while waiting for KGMG to do their raise vs taking the new offer today. It's still good money, but small compared to the effort of starting a new network.
Discussion about KPMG actually holding up their end of the bargain are of course a different conversation.
Get that ish in writing.
Update if anyone needs this for the future: KPMG matched 100%. Im in NYC so being in a big market probably helped me a lot. My practice also has fairly high margins (not audit related) so that possibly could have contributed as well.
You have been getting screwed all this time and case is no different even in future. Partners do remember that you brought a competing offer to get a higher salary. May not hold well for you in the long run. You should have just left. D is much better than K
If they wanted it to happen, they would make it happen. Leave.
Go to D
What does it say that everyone from K in this thread is saying “jump.” They and you know exactly how this will play out; they’re going to disappoint you. Seriously, don’t overthink this.
Daddy D would be the right choice here.
Reflect on the reason(s) you applied elsewhere as there must have been a reason that you did and went through the interview process. I question employers who offer more when there is a threat to leave, they should pay what you are worth before threatening to leave. And what does “we can get you close to what Deloitte offered in October mean?” What is close?
Jump. They can match, they have been matching immediately, this shows you more than the $$$. Go to D, half of my practice already has…
If you stay caan you at least get it in writing
No brainer. Leave immediately. They have power to raise you tomorrow (and they should have raised you without an offer if market demands you’re underpaid) submit resignation tomorrow and don’t look back.
That and you will make far more at Deloitte over the long term. Plus “much better firm.”
I had a similar situation and was strung along. The counter at year end ended up being my new pay + ye bonus added up to my base at the new firm. Don't stay unless you can get it in writing.
M2 is an appropriate time to switch ships. You are likely not making next level here next year, so why nlt spend the next 2 years or so building your case at a nes firm doing the same thing for 45% more! No brainer to me.
You are going to get screwed at KPMG. The guys at top WILL NOT live up to the word. They will slime out and there is nothing you can do about it
Go to Deloitte. Better work and better pay - what are you worried about.
Agree with some of the posters here that if they really wanted, they could change your comp at any time. You are being strung along.
Go to D!
Jump
Go to industry and get a 69% bump.
Curious what the comp numbers are.

Make the jump. If you're partners at KPMG really cared, they could make it happen.

Also, Deloitte is better than Harvard, so you should actually be taking a pay cut to go there ,🤣
You can delay your start date with Deloitte until October so you don’t lose that opportunity if leadership doesn’t follow through.
Jump. Bird in the hand.
