A go around is not an emergency. I've been involved in several. Also had a no-flap landing once, which probably was an emergency. It was basically a non-event but they rolled out the fire trucks to check the breaks after we stopped to ensure they weren't smoldering.
This is a super shitty thread on flyday.
Aborted takeoff, bird went through the engine. Pretty scary.
Aborted takeoff after the engine spit fire out during 3 seconds into takeoff. College case comp trip.🛫🔥
^Similar to IBM 1 - worked two years in Chicago - 2 on time departures on Thursday back to DFW - this particular one was the second; several seconds into takeoff, front wheel up - massive bang and acrid, burnt plastic oil smell in the cabin - front gear slams on the ground and plane wobbles to a halt - one of the engines blew out on the MD80 - needless to say, only one on- time departure in those2 years - glad we weren't airborne when the engine blew, might not have been writing this...
I once experienced a feces emergency that we landed at the nearest airport for. The toilet was overflowing and running down the aisle. Glad I was in the front.
I have twice been on a flight that had to go-around upon landing approach but thankfully nothing else in the 4.5 years of active flying.
Yes, but non work related flight. Was 15 and on a flight from Rome to NYC. Had to emergency land in Paris due to electrical issue in the cockpit
Have also aborted takeoff halfway down the runway because one of the engines "stuttered" so the pilot played it safe.
Aborted landings are white knuckle- 1 of those
I second OW1, a go-around (the popular term "aborted landing" is pretty misleading in terms of severity) is not trouble worth worrying about -- 3 this year (although I hadn't experienced one in the previous 4 years of consulting). Also one "emergency" landing where there was an issue with gear turning but we basically rolled to a stop surrounded by fire trucks, restarted the plane, and continued to the gate
