I worked at a place who I assisted with their culture marketing of “grow within “. Each year I got more than a 5 percent raise and my boss and other execs telling me I was her top employee. My boss started same time as me and got thee promotions. At my 4th year at the same position and title, I asked her alone what my options were . Ever since then she had it out for me. Did not include me in things, took away my favorite projects that I was good at too, heard from other employees both more senior and less senior than me that she was talking about me poorly etc. I couldn’t believe what I was going through! How did this happen ? I couldn’t sleep or eat and was anxious all the time. After 5 months of hell, I went to the doctor, saw my blood pressure and other things heading in the wrong direction and he referred me to a therapist who recommended me to be off of work on FMLA. I saw the therapist sometimes twice a week. I updated my boss / HR each week (more than necessary). I returned to work after 10 weeks thinking about a new start (even though she told no one in the dept to reach out or check on me during my leave). She continued w worse treatment of me and continued to ignore me, gave me degrading hourly (I was a director level) tasks (that I did w a smile made her even more mad) and would day things to me alone like “You know people don’t like you as much as you think”. I took the first job I could get just to leave and that’s what the doc ordered, too at my first session w him. It was a long journey to get my confidence back. I could clearly had an fmla retaliation claim but just happy to be gone from her.

Oh wow. Thanks for sharing your experience. I went through something very similar. I also had to take an FMLA leave. I am so happy that you have healed and regained your strength and confidence back.
