I actually have.. I started at a big company, thinking that was going to be my dream job, but it was a nightmare because of my manager and the culture of the company in general. I learned the hard way that money is not everything, if something doesn't feel right.
I made a move once where I got a really great pay bump but boy, did I have second thoughts. It finally worked out okay and I came to like it, but the first few months were pretty rough. I had to deal with a system of working that I didn't really adapt to easily at first. Looking back, it was a good experience, but at the time I wasn't feeling that at all.
Not yet, knock on wood. I've jobhopped after 3-4 years for the entirety of my career and haven't had it bite me yet. I've liked some jobs more than others, but the money has always been important enough to outweigh any other concern.
I try to give everything a good try. You may not like it at first, but it could grow on you with time. I try not to judge a job until I've been there for six or seven months at least.
I've never jumped to another job with 20% more compensation, so I really can't answer this question haha. It's hard to imagine getting that much more from one job to the next, so I'd try to make the most of it. It's likely you won't have another jump like that
It hasn’t happened to me yet, but that’s maybe why I’m finding it difficult and making a high criteria list. What happened at the new organization?
