I've mentioned before but when I quit with no prospects (it was intentional), I had 3 years worth of cash and no family to support. Currently out of full-time advertising and about to get my professional coach certification in 2 more months. I'm interested in working with people who feel stuck professionally or doubt their career choices and want to take back control of their career, but don't know where to start. I'm looking for practice clients, meanwhile, too. At VERY discounted rates, I might add.
Make sure you have an exit strategy with a new job lined up. Or, have a LOT of money saved up. At least 2 years worth.

I'm currently trying to get out of advertising (or at least agency side) as well. I've been meeting with lots of friends and friends of friends who've made the leap to get a better feel for what it's like. Everyone I've talked to who has gone client side (for in-house creative roles) says they're genuinely happy and they're never going back to agency. I met with one of these people last night around 7:30. She said that's the latest she's been at work since going client side. And that's only because she was killing time until we met up.
I leave advertising in just over a week. I'm so relieved! I spoke to my recruiter for my new job today and she made a comment about 40-50 hour work weeks being long hours (as in I shouldn't expect to work more than 40 hours at my new job normally) and I wanted to cry happy tears!
Hang out at the beach
AD1, how can we get in touch?
P.S. If it helps anyone to know, I am coaching some people from Fishbowl who'd reached out to me when I've shared in the past (I occasionally do when it feels helpful or pertinent). There's obviously no obligation involved and either way, it's completely confidential!
