Faced this weird behaviour from Optum recently. Gave interview for Data Scientist position. HR said feedback is positive. Asked for documents. It's been month now since I have shared the documents. I have no update on the offer. Today I called HR, she called me back saying the position is on hold due to recalibration in team, She has shared interview feedbacks to other teams and will get back to me in couple of days. I am clueless now. My last working day is approaching (In a month). Any Help??
Bain & Company Bain & Company Do you have any insights into what they are expecting in the second (last) round? I saw that there are two cases and a presentation. Are they more interested in professionalism than the "analytical" skills assessed in the first round? Do you have any more insights into the presentation?
Many thanks in advance

It’s horrible, I’ve been looking for AD positions for half a year, ghosting, multiple interviews, pauses on hiring. Not like it used to be pre pandemic.
I had 4 rounds of interviews spread of 4 months. I finally got it, but with so much time in between I kept thinking I didn't .
The mental game of keeping you guessing in the dark is the hardest to overcome for sure
I've applied to 58 jobs since may, gotten one phone interview and 3 weeks later after sending multiple emails was told they went with an internal hire for the job. Trying to stay positive but it's tough out there.
Same here, it's been 6 months and too many applications to count.
After applying to like 60 jobs, I landed an interview. It was 4 stages, first a 1:1, second was also a 1:1, the third was two back to back, and the fourth stage was a panel interview with 4 people over the course of 3 hours. I got rejected after the final stage cause they went with someone internal lol. They then called me back a month later and said they were interest in interviewing again so I went through the entire process again. I got the job in the end, though but holy mackerel was that intense.
Congratulations, but I can't imagine how many hours of daylight you devoted to it!
Been thrpugh that. 3 hours interview that leads to an email thanking me for my time
Yeah, I've gone through so many interview processes looking for an AM role only for them to no longer approve budget for the role, have a hiring freeze, ghost me, or other issues. It's been since the end of November and I haven't found anything solid. Doesn't help that, at least on LinkedIn in my area, everything has 300+ applicants. Just yesterday, I applied to a job that's been up for 3 days and already had 4900 applicants. It was an entry-level role, too.
From Q4 through Q1 of 2021:
1. Four separate one hour interviews followed by a panel interview of three people. The first four interviews were all with executive leadership. The panel interviews were with contemporaries. It took four months. Rejected.
2. Three interviews, each one hour with C-Suite leadership, followed by a half day, on-site panel interview, over the course of 2.5 months. During that time I secured my current role. The agency came back with an offer three days before I was about to start my current job. Told them we would have to make a deal in one business day and I would outline an offer that would be competitive with my current offer. They were pleased and then submitted the original salary and benefits outlined during my earlier interview run.
Agencies make it so f*cking brutal only to treat everyone like a number within the holding company day-to-day.
Red flags can be identified during the interview process. It’s hard when you are in need, but always pay attention to your gut during the interview phase. It’s very telling.
My current role took: 30 minute screening with Talent Director, one hour interview with CCO, and a panel interview with contemporaries over 1.5 week period. It’s rare but I’m quite happy.
For one role I had four 45-minute 1-1 interviews followed by a case study analysis and presentation to a four-person panel with Q&A. Then I got ghosted.

I wish there was a happy medium. I had 2 interviews with an IPGHealth agency in NJ. First was with my future boss for 30 min. Next was with her boss for about 15 min before she had to go. I got the offer 2 hours later. Should have seen the 🚩🚩🚩🚩. I eventually quit, following many others out of the dumpster fire. One of the most unkind, unprofessional people I’ve ever met.
I’m getting interviews, resume getting hits…I am always 1 of 3 in final interviews.
I had a good amount of interviews for 1 position , 6 (1 Hr) in person rounds for 1 position, (they did give me a bottle of water lol) but no offer
I did a 2 hour project for 1 job, hiring manager was let go, never heard back from company
1 interview, the hiring manager was late, but still interviewed me… pending???? I didn’t think she was taking me serious as a potential candidate
During one interview I had to play a game like Tetris online game before proceeding
Another interview had to sell a pencil to the hiring manager…
Typical Feedback:
No feedback
Still pending
Interviewed well…always in top 3
They went with an internal candidate
They went with someone with more “recent experience” in the area they were recruiting for…(I wait a few weeks go to LinkedIn and I see they went with some with much less experience/more recent experience and much younger than myself with a background that doesn’t even relate to the role like)
I was looking to jump to somewhere new recently and got extremely lucky: Had 4 total interviews, 30 minutes each, each interview was with 2 folks from the team. All 4 interviews took place within 1.5 weeks, and heard back with final decision two days after the last round.
Other than these, all other interviews I’ve had in the past year were also quick turns with no MORE than 4 rounds of 30 min interviews.
I’ve heard the horror stories of long interviews from so many of my colleagues and I just don’t understand how agencies can be so inconsiderate and disrespectful of someone’s time and mind!
This should be the standard!
