You are the most influential person in your life.

Here are some things I did along the way.

1) write down your goals.
2) set a plan to achive those goals.
3) post the goals on your wall and look at them daily.
4) do something towards those goals daily.
5) surround yourself with the type of people you want to be like.
6) workout.
7) eat well.
8) pray.

The fact that you want more is your motivation! You can do anything you put your mind to and I absolutely agree with the above statement of setting your goals.
Make them achievable and really think about a position that would make you happy. Then work your way towards achieving something you really love.
If you need help look for books about different career paths that interest you or something to inspire you! Don’t get discouraged because with this economy most of us are just making it. You can definitely become a success at any career you choose! The world is open! Good Luck

The fact that you are seeking help is already a sign that you want to better yourself. I am a firm believer that getting an education will improve your chances of success in life, so if you don’t have a college degree yet, go get one. Take classes at your local community college. Or go to a trade school. For example, with AI, there is a shortage of electricians and plumbers to service all those data centers.

Develop a plan and then put it into action. You can do this!

Don't forget all the things you can do that don't cost anything. Productive habits, focus, effort, spending time educating yourself. You'll need to think specifically about the kind of job you want to work toward, very specifically. I'd start with getting that down to a very specific answer or a few very specific answers.

I’ve had to reset and start almost from zero twice, so I know how difficult it can be, but it is absolutely achievable.

What I am about to write here is all based in my own experience,so I will only be mentioning the core of the things that help me to visualize my path; again, it is based on what I have done to change my professional working life. After that, then you will need to prepare accordingly, set goals, study, etc, etc...

The first step is understanding why you want to change direction. From there, identify your strengths and look for a path that aligns them with what you genuinely enjoy. Once those pieces come together, the direction becomes much clearer.

After that, there are really two options. You can move into a role within the industry you’re aiming for, or you can build something of your own. The second path carries more risk, but also far greater upside, especially if you’re driven by something you truly care about.

The important thing is not to look back years from now wondering what might have been. If you’re going to make a move, this is the moment to do it; a lot of people fail because they do the simplest of things, which is making the move.

Good luck.

Finding what you want to do in life is hard but the best advice ive gotten is try to find the intersection between
-what you want to do
-what youre good at or might be good at (when i say might be good at, think do you like solving problems, do you like reading, do you like writing, do you like talking, that kinda thing, because if you think you might like something, youre more likely to be able to turn it into something youre good at)
-what people, companies, the world is willing to pay for

and if there isnt much overlap, what you want to do should be the first thing you compromise on. most people think they know what they like but also havent tried a bunch of things or experienced those things in different settings - you might be surprised by what you learn to enjoy.

figure out what fits those 3 and you should have something you can build on top of. The hidden bit is opportunity though, what youre likely to get - do you know people in an industry who can mentor you, introduce you to people, do you live in a place that has some untapped opportunity, etc.

PS: I have also received the laptop, but didn't login or do anything yet.
Please help me, can I still leave the company? And return the laptop to them. Or I have to continue here itself?

I am defending an eviction for a client who has given possession of the property (as of Nov. 30). Plaintiff’s complaint has one claim – possession. They did request relief for attorney’s fees. NJT/Final Hearing commenced 10/27, was only 30 min and was therefore continued to 12/20. Plaintiff had counsel at that time but they are no longer represented.  I want to file something notifying Court that Plaintiff claim is now moot, making sure that judgment is not entered that hurts (cont'd)..

I want to join a start up in my industry but I need to rescind a job acceptance from a more establish company. I resigned from my old job and didn’t start the new job yet. Is the non compete I signed, as part of the job offer acceptance for the position with the bigger company, enforceable if I rescind my job acceptance before I actually start a new job? I don’t think it is. I didn’t receive a sign on bonus so no additional consideration was exchanged from my understanding of my law classes.

Brand new startup, how do we think about social media?

We tried paid ads and it’s expensive so we want to acquire users through content marketing. It’s a product that helps people discover gift ideas - and it’s a web app.

What’s a good way of creating a social media strategy for it? Or is social media content marketing a good idea at all for early startups?

What are other ways to acquire early stage users?

Friends, need some feedback on an idea:

I’m thinking of starting a podcast interviewing leaders at startups about their experience with specific challenges - I know, cliche, get a more original hobby, etc.

Not looking for the narrative arc of How I Built This or Masters of Scale. Instead, looking to uncover specific problems faced by companies that tried something new for the first time. What did they not see coming, how did they adapt and measure, etc.

What are your thoughts on this format?

Any craft beer brewers here?

In the last two year I’ve gotten more and more into alcohol free beer. The selection in my country (Europe) is still small and mainly driven by the big brands (e.g. Heineken). My idea is to start my own small brewery which only produces alcohol free beer as a bit of a pendant to the booming local craft beer industry. Any thoughts on that idea or someone who has experience in the market?

I was also given a dollar range that I can “imagine” the share price would be (I think they were trying to help me do the math without it giving away too much)?

Do recruiters and Hiring Managers actually review and read resumes? Also tech companies that sell SaaS, what is it with the requirements of having 10 years or more if technical sales experience? Also the ramp up period is not realistic. Average sales cycle for a reputable SaaS provider is 12-24 months. How on earth a start up can state that their ramp up period is 90 days? The company hasn’t had any new sales either. Start up CEO’s… be realistic or seek enough funding to operate.

Any good recommended books on how to build a scalable product and team? I'm looking for recommendations for two areas: 1) in general laying the groundwork in a startup to have the tools and especially processes in place to scale, and 2) tactical focus on building a SaaS project.
