Hi all! Is anyone here in Underwriting? Just want some thoughts on this as i’ve recently gotten an offer for an Underwriting Associate position and have never done any salary negotiations before. Does it seem unrealistic for my counter offer to be 12k more than the original offer? Considering that the original offer is roughly 8k less than the market salary. Plus i’m also accounting for wiggle room as i’m not expecting them to actually agree with the full 12k counter offer

Any advice for asking for almost a 30-35% raise. I recently got an Office Manager position and I wanted to renegotiate my pay. It's a brand new location with branches nationwide. Why is education deemed more valuable on a pay scale than experience? Employers will pay someone with a degree and no experience a greater salary, than someone who has exhibited the experience.
