Leadership only promotes people who kiss ass the most qho have no managerial experience and pass people who actually have experience in a manager role. Leadership never helps you with anything. Managers write you up for no reason amd threaton your job constantly. Ive have leasherip threaten my job while on FMLA and write me up for taking too much time off

I’ve been a licensed general lines (2-20) insurance agent for year and a half and have sold around 2M in premium, of which most of it is personal lines (homeowners, DP), and some commercial lines business. The job market has been really competitive but I am getting closer to getting a new job and moving on. The firm culture isn't great and work-life balance is non existent. My physical and mental health have been suffering, so I really don't think I could stay. How did you avoid the guilt trips from Partners/Senior staff trying to get you to stay?

I’m interviewing for a GC role at a company that’s never had in-house counsel before. I’ve never been a GC - what questions should I be asking?

I’m trying to get all my ducks in a row for when I quit here at the end of next month… I am taking a break to figure out what I want to do, so I will be unemployed for a time. Do I have to notify the ARDC of this change (IL licensed)? Do I have to immediately switch to inactive status or can I stay active in case I decide to keep practicing law just a few months later? I work with great people. Really can’t say anything bad about my firm in general either. But…I still dislike the entire premise of law firm life, the billable hour, etc.. I’d love to work in a law school setting as a counselor or something but I can’t afford the pay cut. *sigh* Does anyone feel like being a lawyer is just doing homework all day? First world problems I suppose. I’m very thankful to have a job ❤️

I’m so miserable every day is painful. I want to go tell pre-law school me it’s not worth the debt because you will hate this career and then feel trapped by the debt.
