Hello hospitality professionals,
I’m currently working as an Assistant Restaurant Manager in Riyadh, with over 5 years of experience in coffee, beverages, customer service, and team leadership. I’m passionate about creating memorable guest experiences and building strong, motivated teams.

I’d love to connect with others in the Restaurants & Food Services industry.

I think the most valuable skill that I've learned is just going with the flow and not getting too worked up about stuff. In the restaurant industry, things are always going to go wrong, and you have to stay flexible and creative in order not to let it drive you nuts.

The most valuable thing I have learned it initiative. When I first started working at my current job as a host, I had a huge "not my problem" mentality. I had it throughout my entire life. Through a few talks with management and countless mistakes, I started to do things simply because they werent done. No tables for a reservation, ill go and clean it. expo needs hands, ill run food. Instead of just sitting back and watching, I helped out as much as possible and my efforts were not ignored. This trickled into my personal life, and honestly its been up from there.

Sushi ... I was given the opportunity during Covid because restaurants couldn't hire abroad ... As soon as Covid was over I was kicked to the curb but I was able to open my own Sushi business with the knowledge.

I was working for an unorganized and unmotivated job as an AGM. The one lesson I learned, is keep to yourself and dont sleep with coworkers. Jk
I learned so much from my career path. My most favorite part was working with events and I wish I could capitalize on that venture. I would trade anything for a stable events management job, I've gain so much knowledge on that position, yet I dont know how to express that to the people that are hiring for the position.

The most valuable skill I've learned working in restaurants is to maintain a sense of humor and just let some things bounce off you. There are often unexpected problems, and you just have to make adjustments and maintain your composure. Sometimes you just have to shrug things off.

Additional Posts in Restaurants & Food Services

I had quite the day the other day. Coustmer comes in and then ends up leaving with a grossed out look on his face just for him to put in a complaint about my appearance...he down right called me some nasty things for no reason. Still feeling gross about it. He was upset for no reason as far as I'm concerned.

Do you think culinary school is worth it? I've been a waiter for a year but really want to be a chef. The people I work with say to just start in the kitchen and work my way up but I think culinary school might get me where I want to be faster. The cost is pretty insane though. Any advice?

So I work as an assistant manager at a restaurant for the past 9 months. I've worked in restaurants for the past 6 years science I was 16. Now I'm 22. I went to a trade school for media and film. I got a dream opportunity to work in the field making about the same or 10% more. I told myself the only reason I'd leave this company is for this type of job. Should I take the chance at this job and leave the restaurant that is on the rise and growing?

I work as an AGM in a busy restaurant. Been working there for just over a year, and haven't had a single raise. I now only make 0.50 cents more than even the lowest paid shift lead but I am doing a lot more work. I'm no longer satisfied with these conditions. Should I try to negotiate a raise or look for other opportunities?

If I should negotiate, any tips?
