Anywhere but BDO. BDO should not even be considered in the tri-state area. No matter what they are offering.

Same. I just left BDO

Baker Tilly is PE backed, so you need to consider if that’s really want you want. I’m not saying you shouldn’t, but I also see posts from many different PE backed firms that are unhappy with the change. You also need to consider the current economy and whether that changes your viewpoint.

Contrary to what a lot of people post on FB, many people in BDO’s tax practice are doing well and overall happy to be there. There’s been a lot of change fatigue with new ERPs, new document management, a push for offshoring, and higher expectations across the board. So, that has been bumpy but is heading in the right direction. I’d also say if you are coming from KPMG (where I came from), you should be able to do well here. The change has been hard for people that came in from smaller firm acquisitions and are not used to national management and Big4-like expectations. But, IMO the people with a couple years of manager experience from big 4 run circles around some of our senior managers.

Happy to DM more if you’d like.

Let's say I have got offer from company A and B.
The salary of B is little more than A.
I am willing to join A, hence want to re negotiate.

Looking for some positive answers.

I interviewed for KPMG on 11/15 for a Senior role and the HR emailed me on 11/16 that everyone liked me but they think I should be hired as an Experienced Associate. I had a call with the HR on 11/17 wherein we discussed about my salary expectations and the HR said he will get back in a day. It’s been more than 10 days and multiple follow ups but still no response. I don’t think I was rude while talking to the HR, I just told my current salary and asked for min. that no. Did i miss the chance ?

Went from a big firm to work for a smaller firm. The people in the smaller firm are protective of their work and are good by their work too. I no longer feel chaos or stress. I am treated with respect and my schedule is more normal. I am even working more billable hours than before, but it feels like a seamless experience. I don’t work then past 5pm or anything out of the ordinary for this time of the year. I am so grateful!

People that have small children - how do you deal with your child’s stress and separation anxiety when you go to work? My 4-year old goes berserk almost every day at some point relating to me having to work. The worst part is that I’ve been working from home bc of Covid and I’m literally just walking upstairs after giving hugs and kisses and saying see you soon 800 times. My spouse is a stay at home parent, but that doesn’t seem to matter to my son. A piece of me dies everyday because of this.

So I worked from home yesterday and my husband had a sneak peak on my meetings with clients (which I’m very new to being a senior). He mention that I should read some sales pitch books of some sorts so I can get a process down and not be drain from having genuine conversations with every client. I think it’s a great idea. Anyone have thoughts or recommendation?
