I moved from a large firm to a small startup and I struggle with this too. I get the best traction with texting or talking on the phone. Emails go into a void, even if they’ve been responsive in the past. I prefer email BUT I’ve noticed the best way to get replies, and keep up good relationships, is to be on a texting and talking basis.
I agree, as a buyer honestly I just get so many cold emails that I don’t even pay attention to them anymore. Plus, most corp companies have spam catching software set up by default- so even after most sales emails are caught in that I still get a lot. However, I have had some unique out-reaches that put in the work and I entertain those because they did their homework, so I might benefit from their product.
Also, I’ve learned from my current role that partnerships are a great referral avenue if you are already working with a company on a partnership level that has close ties with a prospect. I had a company reach out to me that already works with one of my high-level partnerships, and I was way more open to watching a demo. Name dropping works 🤷🏼♀️
Struggling business owners who can’t pay their bills can be embarrassed and don’t know what to say to the long list of vendors that they like but can’t pay.
One way to handle this well is to outsource the 90+ bill collecting. They take a % of what’s recovered.
This has been a thing the past few years and we have also seen it increase. It is so frustrating when you spend all that time trying to track someone down over and over. So sorry you are dealing with that OP.
