Hello. Who has Principal as their 401k administrator? What funds did you all pick?

Not into target date funds and want to be aggressive even in my 40s. TIA!

We don’t. I would imagine the options are employer by employer. Just because someone has principal doesn’t mean they will have the same options.

Makes sense. I just picked 30% large cap, 40% mid/small and 30% international funds.

This is why I like IRAs better than 401ks. I don’t know what I am picking!

My employer had Principal. I think my profile was moderate. I just looked up the funds, they were called TIAA-CREF Lifecycle Index 2055 Institutional Fund (TTIIX) - not sure if that helps

Thx. You are doing target date. I am trying to stay away from target date funds.

I will look up the individual funds and prob pick moderate to aggressive. Even at my age, I see being aggressive as an advantage.

Anyone ever have experience negotiating a new offer to include unvested 401k match and stock grants from your current employer? I hate leaving money on the table but there are some good roles out there. I’m not fully vested in my current 401k yet and my stock grants haven’t matured yet either. This would be at a global director level.

Feeling grateful & proud as I reached my goal ($50K by 25) 5 months early. But I can’t help feeling a bit overwhelmed. In the lifelong scheme of things, $50K doesn’t seem like much. I worked really hard and sacrificed a lot (including mental health) to get to this but it seems a little tiring knowing I still have so long to go. I recently moved out and in with my BF so my expenses are split, but nonetheless they are still expenses. Any tips on continuing this journey and keeping the drive?

Has anyone heard or experienced going on maternity leave, then leaving shortly after returning? I'm hearing from my husband's company if he takes pat leave, and leaves shortly after returning, he'd have to repay the wages paid while out on leave. Is this only for pat leave and the person who gives birth wouldn't have to pay back as it's technically disability pay? Trying to weigh my options as I want to get out of my company, but want the mat leave first.

$530k HHI, $250k cash on hand, $1.2M investments/retirement. Plan to buy $800-900k house as our first home, but thinking of the best approach given rates today. My thinking is that we (i) put $200k+ down and get a 5/1 ARM. (ii) put everything we save moving forward toward paying down the principal (after maximizing retirement accounts). Should be able to do $100k per year. (iii) If rates go down below 4.5ish % for 15 year fixed, refinance and stop aggressive payment. Thoughts on this approach?
