I think u could get at least 3k more by phasing out the "Many thanks" sign off.
but that's just my opinion. 🤷🏻♂️
lol
Not a lot you can do. Internal promos are always weak. They only budge when you have an offer in hand. The most effective thing without that is to come with a sharp bit of knowledge, stated coolly. Potential examples:
“I happen to know (competitor in town) has listings up right now for the same position for $x. I’d like to stay here, and I’d like to see what can be done to close that gap.”
Alternatively you can do what I did once and find a colleagues job higher offer on the printer and shove it in their face. HR got its own printer after that fuckup.
First off, don’t write it, that’s a phone call with a follow up note. I looked at a handful of similar agencies in the area and looked up their average salaries for my new role. I then wrote down what my former role’s salary was an made a little chart that had percentages on one side (10%, 11%, 12%, 13% etc) with the corresponding raise next to them. I sat my boss down and pointed to the chart and said my raise is here, but based on the market price of my role in the area, I feel it should be here. Then he took my chart to the higher ups. Still didn’t work haha, usually raises aren’t so negotiable
Unfortunately the best way to make more money is to agency hop. I left that job about a year later and got another $20k for a lateral move
I told my boss (honestly) that I had interviewed for another job and the salary was “x” but I decided not to go through with it because i was committed, etc etc. Got my another 2% (not crazy but what I was asking for)
Thank you for your feedback 😌
