Hi, Is it good to join Salesforce for Technical Consultant role (YOE - 3.2 years) ?
I checked with few of my connections, they saying I will be mostly allocated to Salesforce industries (Vlocity) project. Please suggest about the team structure and work life balance for this role.
and also in future, is it possible to apply for IJP in Salesforce ?
Please provide your thoughts on this.
Thanks

If i got selected I am planning to move with my family.
Will there be any savings and what would be cost of living for a 3 member family there.

Received an offer as Engagement Director from Salesforce (CSG, pre sales, L9). Great benefits package, 40% increase in total comp and better WLB.
I do love the people in my practice and current client, but career trajectory has stalled after taking parental leave earlier this year and (yet another) change in leadership.
Realistically, making to Director is 2-3 years away and will require sacrificing time with my family that I am not prepared to give up.
Should I stay or should I go?

PM roles are fun but very different from Corp strat. You do get more ownership, build awesome knowledge and are responsible for money. HOWEVER, there is a LOT of syndication and convincing needed with several teams and your scope / knowledge of the broader picture can be severely limited based on your designation and access to information. Once you become a people manager , it’s all pretty slides / PRDs regardless of the role since you don’t do the work directly yourself anymore. Just an FYI 😀
At least pretty slides about how profitability is impacted! Now “how we are set up to do this boring thing”
If you’re not a profit center at your company, you will have worse talent in your org and lower compensation but better WLB. It’s a fine life for some, but usually not your type A consultant. You figured that out the hard way.
Big bank
Depending on the organization, product can be pretty awful. Former PM here and I left for consulting due to tons of bureaucracy, slow cycles, and lack of data driven decision making.
Not saying it is a bad goal, but just letting you know they aren’t always the best thing ever.

From my vantage point: In a "feature shop" company, PMs are mainly executing features that are driven by stakeholders (ex: the CEO wants you to execute on their solution so just do it), often valuing number of features released over outcome of features. In a Product driven org the PMs identify problems, prioritize and figure out how to solve the problems and it can take months before a solution is delivered but it can have higher impact and value to all stakeholders compared to implementing a bunch of ideas that aren't well researched.
