I’m a 16 also. I buy all my work clothes at Poshmark. MM Lafleur dresses are my favorite. I bid 20% less than post and try to buy a few together to save shipping costs.
The sellers usually post measurements so you can know it’s going to fit. The clothes are in awesome condition.
I can’t believe I forgot about Poshmark. I will definitely revisit them. Thanks for the tip.
HEY THERE! So this is my go to secret: Ross! They have $100-$200 Calvin Klein dresses for $20-40. They also have great slacks. Another secret of mine is to go to goodwill, and if I find something I LOVE but doesn’t fit perfectly, I just get it tailored. I never pay full price for anything, and am constantly getting comments about how classy, elegant, and nice I look.
Yeah of course! Marshall’s too. A secret of mine for Goodwill is to go to the nicer side of town for professional wear. I got a pair on Ann Taylor slacks that retailed for $200 and got them for $7 😎
I’m tall so I like lands end pants and jackets.
I like lands end as you can order the size and make the exact length, look at ann Klein tall if you need and banana republic tall. I use lands end. Talbots occasionally has tall.
OP I buy most of my clothes (for reference I wear a 14 and sometimes a 16 depending on the brand) at Express and Banana Republic. Some of the stuff I have from Express I have literally worn for years and years. Both stores usually have good sales and I feel like the clothes are made to last.
I haven’t shopped at either in decades. I didn’t think they carried 16. But I will definitely look. Thanks!
I love Poshmark! I also use Rent the Runway. It’s fun to have the variety without committing to expensive pieces, but it also exposes me to brands that I’ve never heard of or thought of trying. After this if I really like a piece, I consider buying it from them for a discount - or I run to Poshmark/Mercari/eBay!
If interested referral offer is pretty good right now, $86 for your first month for a 10-item plan (get 5 items, then swap mid month for another 5)

I understand that! They ship the clothing in a type of garment bag that you ship the clothes back in and they include labels and you can schedule pickups straight from the app. I usually don’t take my returns to a UPS store, the home pickup is pretty reliable and convenient!
