What city/market?
Personally I wouldn't want to work at an Insurance company but thats just me. I think this is a good offer but not amazing.
Major market but not NYC/LA/SF.
That bonus may as well be 0% to 3000% range
Rising Star
bro, take it
(Continued) My predecessor at this company who had the same M&A/Securities role had the title of Assistant Vice President, Senior Counsel, and I had initially been told to expect the same title. The offer instead came in with the title of “Counsel” meaning that I am not equity eligible, which they said was due to changes in job architecture and not personal. They now have a minimum YOE requirement to be eligible for AVP level that they didn’t have before (which is several more YOE than I have). Is it worth asking for an exception to the rule (they seem pretty stuck on this point) but I will miss out on attending leadership meetings and will obviously not be equity eligible until I am promoted. Also how much will title realistically impact me in my next job search? I will be one of two securities lawyers at the company so I think people will understand the role I played from my resume, but I welcome all thoughts. I also should add that I really love the people and have a great rapport with everyone I’ve worked with.
I had a similar situation occur recently. I thought about the totality of the circumstances and ended up accepting the offer (I am currently in-house somewhere else). I think you should make a decision based on what’s most important to you.
For 4 YOE this is not bad but not great either. Do you know how many more years will you be eligible for promotion?
