Am I the only one who thinks tech stack is absolutely irrelevant in the long term?
I’ve had to learn 6 new languages of some sort when I joined Google. I’ve worked on C#, Java, C++, Rails in my career before that.
If you want to have a long term career in tech, pick the problem area — not the tech stack. For instance, machine learning, distributed systems, mobile app development — these are problem areas. Tech comes and goes. Problem solvers are always in high demand.
Thanks EY for your words of appreciation :)
Fwiw - I’ve also been through the phase early on in my career where I focused on tech and money. I realised with experience that if you’re a good problem solver, the language / framework won’t matter and money will sort itself out :)
Most of the big tech firms that pay top of the market hire for general smartness - aka people who can learn new things or better yet, even come up with new technologies if the old ones don’t fit the bill.
That’s pretty much how map reduce, big table, golang etc. came to life. If people just followed some pre-existing frameworks, none of these would’ve happened :)

What does it mean by restrictive tech stack ?
Ah, didn't know this. Thanks!
Wfo was never an issue before right? So ignoring that part won't affect much.

Don't sacrifice on tech stack if you have good options..
You might run into risk of being outdated

Update:
PwC included 3L of JB when I spoke to the HR about the counter offer thus indirectly making the CTC for first year to almost 24-25lpa(pay range dependent on annual bonus).
Looking at all factors at play and at the problem solving area, learning, hands on experience plus the brand, I am thinking of taking PwC for now and cram myself. 1-2yrs later on I will try and move into product based and settle out in terms of wlb and compensation.
Let me know if this makes sense.

In your pwc offer letter, have they mentioend work from any where flexibility or mentioned work locarion as your office address.

In offer letter, base location is mentioned. But HR has provided separate written confirmation regarding work from anywhere. I also got an option to select work preference after joining where I chose remote.
