I moved from retail to working in assisted living facilities and I love it
Hi there I totally understand what you're saying I too have 30 plus years in restaurants nursing homes non-profit homes I pretty much done it all I'm still in a supervisor kitchen management role but actually still holding this position I have slowed down a lot my body just couldn't do 12 14 hours on the line anymore the stress the hours the time away from home fortunately my children are all grown now I have grandchildren I missed a lot with my children growing up because I work so much so I totally understand what you're saying but some of the ways I've learned to be able to slow down still hold a supervisor or management position because you want that pay is to move into or should say move away from restaurant work and look more into facilities I don't know where you're from but per se the Rushford house in Willimantic Connecticut is actually detox center so that I know is a small Buffet so you're still in a authoritary position but just making sure staff is doing their job getting meals prepared probably still doing some Hands-On work also places like the Martin house in Norwich Connecticut is a non-profit facility that houses 58 residents that come from all walks of life mental health issues homelessness Etc so maybe look in your area into things like that maybe small skilled nursing homes that have no more than 100 residents you could still hold your position and title but definitely slow down I wish you the best of luck
