Need your advice on the career opportunity. Graduated from top 30 non business target university. I have one year of audit under my belt but not really loving it. I am trying to pivot into finance, real estate/asset management. I have a high chance of getting into a master’s in finance to top 30 in the world with my grades and experience (roughly). Should I do a masters degree or try to switch to FDD right now and in a few years apply for MBA? Any advice helps, thanks!

Has anyone gone from a complex litigation practice like Construction and/or Government Contracts to a more general civil lit practice (PI, family, etc.)? I'm highly debating making the switch as I feel like these massive complex construction cases aren't really getting me enough solid litigation experience. I rarely, if ever, see the inside of a courthouse, and am generally just bored. If anyone has made the switch I'd love to hear your thoughts.

UPDATE (RE: SoCal Assistant Controller Interview)

So after two weeks of waiting (and giving up on the idea of getting the job really), the recruiter got back to me.

They said due to month-end and quarter-end close they were busy and couldn’t get back to me as quickly for a “good update”.

The recruiter said the CFO enjoyed our call, she, the CFO, will call me next week directly to “discuss some final things”.

Not sure if Im hired or not, but are there any questions about the job, comp (cont.)

What level and service line were you at the big 4, and what percent salary increase did you get once you left? I’m a S1>S2, and the offers I’m seeing are around 10%-15% higher, which feels a little low. But maybe I’m being unrealistic.
