I got a call from DXC for senior Java developer position in Bucharest (Romania). They have mentioned a pay scale of 17k to 18k RON per month after tax cutting
If i got selected I am planning to move with my family.
Will there be any savings and what would be cost of living for a 3 member family there.

Hi! I’m a data analyst in Target (India), with ~4 years of experience in this field. I just got a hike, and am working towards getting a promotion this year. I want to get an idea about the average salary (or the range) of a senior data analyst here. Also, the % hike that people usually get during a promotion like this. Thanks!

If they absolutely can’t budge, it’s still worth it. The quality of work and benefits sound really great. Do it. $5k is nothing. Ask for a signing bonus.
This was my train of thought too! TY!
You could use that as a negotiating chip to get a signing bonus, more PTO, or a written promise to re-evaluate salary after a period of time.
Will def try! I was already thinking of a signing bonus, but will try to aim for more PTO too. TY
Honestly name holds a ton of weight in advertising, having a prestigious name and network in your history can help you a ton in the long run
Have you tried negotiating yet? Never take the first offer without trying.
im just about to start negotiating! also i was very upfront about my salary expectations during first rounds with HR, which was a lot higher than their budgeted salary. i told them i’d rather not waste anyone’s time & not move on if salary’s an issue, but they moved forward with me anyways.
Don’t underrate how much money you can save if you have 100p covered healthcare. Run the numbers against what you currently have and think about what type of care you may get if you knew it wouldn’t cost you hundreds.
I think you should be able to get that last 5k as well though after a little negotiating.
Another benefit you should look into is if they offer HSAs with their healthcare options. If you don’t have to “pay” for your healthcare but still have access to an HSA, you can easily make up the difference over time as well. (Assuming our market recovers at some point 🫠)
I don’t know whT you pay for health insurance now but my wife and I are paying $190 every other week through her work, covering us and our daughter. That’s almost $5k a year. I agree with previous poster to run the numbers, consider 401k matching, bonuses, PTO, ask if they do COL adjustments etc etc. and decide from there. Offhand, if $5k isn’t a deal breaker for you I’d pursue the opportunity as a stepping stone into a next role.
$5k in the grand scheme of paychecks is like $150 per paycheck. If you can live without that AND create better work that will further your career. Do it, then ask for a larger raise after a year.
You need to calculate the new total comp — including the difference in health care costs, bonuses, anything the company will pay for on a monthly basis. Take it all into account. Base salary is only part of the equation.
I accepted an offer for 50k less than what I was making for a name. Will report back in a decade or so
they also offer an annual discretionary bonus (not guaranteed) which is rare in agency life especially for my title level. should I push for the minimum desired base salary… also do you think i can negotiate more PTO as well?
i wouldn’t take a new job unless i was making $15k+ my old salary
I typically do this, but I’m relatively new at this agency so I’ve maxed out my salary band for my title
