What's the salary range for a director at the Gilead Sciences foundation? There is a position perfect for me, but I don't want to throw my hat in the ring if starting salary isn't $180-190k. Also, any thoughts on the stability of their philanthropic commitment? There's talk of a recession; I don't want to go private to be cute a few months later.

What is first year partner compensation?
McKinsey & Company Hi all! Any fishes at BCG and/or McK have time to chat sometime within the next few days/weeks?
I’m a consulting analyst at Accenture, really interested in strategy work (mainly tech/software clients but open to all backgrounds) hoping to make the jump some time next year. I’d very much appreciate connecting to understand your journey with the firms and the work you do.
Thanks in advance, and happy holidays!

Biased - but you’ll meet and make some amazing people/friends at McKinsey. This may help in the future with networking or whatever future endeavors you have in mind. Amazon & McK on your resume is a pretty great combo.
OP, I’m doing the reverse transition . If you want to start your own company , you are better off going to a startup now before MBA . If you want to potentially continue working in large companies and get a sponsored MBA go to McKinsey. I have found the McKinsey brand name to be very helpful BUT Amazon is equally good in the startup space and McKinsey definitely has a terrible wlb offering. All in all, if you want to keep options open and want more (but frankly unnecessary brands 😀) go for McK
Hey - appreciate the transparency, and I think like that too, but to put it transparently, long term I’ll settle abroad and Amazon + McK will open up doors for me that Amazon alone or McK alone wouldn’t, so I’m willing to go through that wlb for 1.5 years before I go do an mba. When I exit mba I’d stay clear of large corps, but I do value big corp training / exposure which is still powerful despite the brand chase.

If you’re leaning, take it. You only live life once and strangers can only tell you or shape your decision so much. Follow your heart bc both paths are great and you’ll learn a lot ☺️
I think this bowl has a lot of conservative thinking re: careers, which is totally fine, but only you can figure out what’s best for you at any given point in time. And it sounds like right now, consulting is what you want and the opportunity makes sense.
Thanks a lot, both - totally aligned with my thinking, and you’ve validated a few things.
Agreed BCG - I am willing to leave the RSUs though. It is significant but to your point I know long term i can exploit the combination of amazon and McKinsey a lot more monetary and otherwise than just one of them.
Out of curiousity, what's your current compensation and YOE?
I would not leave if I were you, I think you’ll regret it
Hey - haha, I know the consulting industry quite well. Have a lot friends there. Also I can always come back to tech. The reason why I’m interested is because right now is the only time in my life I’m willing to take on that wlb for a brief stint. Long term, I’ll settled abroad so in my network, this would open me up to a lot more things 10-15 years from now. But let’s see, I’m debating - I think my current team will guilt trip me into staying so let’s see.
I’m in the Ops practice- from what I’m hearing you’re leaning toward taking it, and agree with that given your goals of maximizing learning, brand/network, hustling hard and meeting people while still young etc. It’s a tough job though and just know that a massive chunk of the job is learning how to manage stakeholders and communicate crisply—soft skills—not just hard skills/domain expertise
Appreciate it guys - yes, love the pd&p work and it’ll align well with long term goals and interests. Thanks guys!
5-6 YOE. I’m factoring 165k base, 15-30 signing and 15-20% perf bonus at McKinsey. I already make a base around that but my signing at Amazon (split between 2 years) and RSU breakdown are quite high, so put me in a higher band for my 2 years at Amazon and next 2 years then what I’ll make at McKinsey. So comp wise McKinsey would never be able to match my current or other tech options which is a given. I’m more worried that I think right now is the only time I’d be willing to make such a shift. Can’t see myself in consulting later in life.
