I would get something that has at least SPF 30 for the morning especially if you are using retinol. Retinol is great and I use it every night, but it makes your skin more sensitive to UV rays. I would also get vitamin c serum for the morning as well (vitamin c first and then SPF)
Not familiar with those products but I have used the neutrogena hydro boost face mask and I love that for the winter!
Not sure abt the other two. But in general, I am not a fan of gummy due to the added sugar. Please check the ingredients . There are other forms of collagen you can take as well. I currently take vital proteins collagen peptides.
Agreed re: gummies. I take a superblend drink called Blueshift Skin Defense Plus, which includes collagen peptides plus four other skin products. Disclaimer: I work at this company, but I love this product. In contrast to Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides, which are flavorless (so you can put it in coffee, smoothies, etc.) Blueshift Skin Defense Plus is meant to be consumed just mixed with water as it has a very intentional mocktail-like flavor (but no sugar added). https://www.blueshiftnutrition.com/products/skin-defense-plus
Evidence is iffy for oral supplements. For skincare try adding things one at a time. Basic routine is: AM cleanse, vitamin C serum, moisturiser, sunscreen. PM cleanse, retinol, moisturiser. The Ordinary is a good place to start for high quality ingredients at a low price. There’s a ton of reviews available per product as well. I like Korean brands too, such as Beauty of Joseon and Innisfree, they have been good for my sensitive skin.
How do I get passed the shipping cost for Korean products? Also which products do you use thankyou?
I would say, in my experience (27W and I’ve had cystic acne issues), only topical products have changed my skin.
AM: cleanser, vitamin C, spf moisturizer - don’t forget your neck and hands.
PM: cleanser, Differin gel, moisturizer.
I like the brand La Roche Posay for all products but the Differin gel, which you can get almost anywhere. But that Neutrogina moisturizer works great, so use if you like it!
First off, congrats on getting ahead of this so early! Your skin will thank you now and especially later!!!
Gummies AND with biotin are a no-go if you break out easily, though. Also, look for supplements with a certification stamp from NSF or GMP to ensure you’re getting the potency and quality that’s said on the label. For supplements, a whole food multivitamin, an omega 3 and probiotic will go a looong way. Nourish from within.
External in terms of serums, from a personal standpoint, most of my facial items are drugstore (la roche posay cleanser and moisturizer), esthetician/med spa (Skinceuticals vit c) and prescription (tretinoin) and I use sunscreen separately (elta md). I tried the Neutrogena hydro boost but ultimately went back to la roche posay. Others love it, though so hopefully you do, too.
Good luck!!!
Echo most above being Vit C serum, I use Biossance squalene oil or alternate with the rose oil then moisturizer & SPF. However, I pay attention to my skin & change products as needed. Product brands that are in my rotation include Biossance, Derma E, Paula Choice & Tatcha.
FYI: It’s best to stick to a product for at least 2 weeks before alternating or adding.
My skin is super sensitive too. I have eczema. It’s good that you’re starting early. I’m in my 40s and my grandma told me to start at 20 with the skincare. I use Aveeno cleanser. For a toner, I use Dickinson’s Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner. And then I use Aveeno Positively Radiant Moisturizer. That’s my morning routine. If I need to exfoliate, I use St. Ives Apricot Scrub. At night, it’s the same routine, only I L’Oréal Revitalift Pure Retinol Night Serum between the toner and moisturizer. I’ve been doing this routine for years. My skin rarely breaks out, my oil levels are controlled. And I have no discoloration or acne scars. And I haven’t gotten a single wrinkle.
As for vitamins, I take Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides (3 in the morning, 3 in the evening, Primal Harvest Hair Growth Complex, and Centrum One A Day Women’s Vitamins. They help with skin/hair internally. My grandma said I didn’t have to buy the expensive brands to reap the benefits.
Screen shot screen shot!! Thanks girl !!!
I can only speak for the Neutrogena, for what it’s worth when i was seeing a dermatologist for my acne it was added to my regimen by him in addition to some prescriptions gel and antibiotics. So i can say that it’s dermatologist recommended but i’m not sure if it’s suitable for your skin type or issues
I feel overwhelmed. What are good brand products for this stuff you guys are mentioning?
I spend too much money on mine but it’s all medical grade.
SkinBetter Alpharet is probably the best retinol in the market. I also use IS Clinical Pro Heal Serum as my vitamin c. Both brands are cruelty free.
This is one of the few Neutrogena products I like to use on my acne prone skin, haven't used the others.
If you want to use something for wrinkles/fine lines, ask your dermatologist for Tretenoin, helps with acne, spots/hyperpigmentation, and fine lines but super drying.
If you want something over the counter, try Vitamin-C during the day, retinol at night, or hyaluronic acid serum, or overnight masks (these can work wonders).
Sunscreen is ur best friend for antiaging! I like the supergoop unseen spf ($36) but have heard great reviews pn the trader joe's dupe (~$10)
Sure can! Just make sure its a high enough spf and you're using enough, like 3 lines of your fingers worth. The best sunscreen is one you would use regularly
Hylauronic acid and aloe Vera gel for moisturizer. Glycolic acid by The ordinary for break outs and hyperpigmentation. SPF . I have to check my brand but, I mix it in with my foundation.
I used to use that neutrogenia moisturizer. I like The Ordinary moisturizer, hyalauronic acid, caffeine eye oil, and then the derma e vitamin c serum.
The ordinary brand doesn’t have as many fillers or additives as other brands, which is good.
Remember a good SPF daily! I like goop mineral SPF or glossier’s spf
i would use cerave, it works really well and i have sensitive skin!
