I got an offer at Nokia, and my new manager said that she wanted to put me in the higher salary bracket however the HR insisted that we lowered the range. That caused me to receive a much lower salary than expected. Should I renegotiate even when my manager said that she tried giving me more. Does HR really play that big of a role in this?

Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar. Upon passing, the partner told me they would hire an assistant for me since I now became an associate. That was 1.5 years ago and I am still in the limbo of juggling my own workload + doing assistant roles for my supervisors. I have also had no increase in pay, which is a huge deal for me. Recently got an offer for salesforce sales strategy (105K TC) vs Morgan Stanley IB Strategy (135K TC). Salesforce will be 40-50 hours a week remote until 2022 and then will have a hybrid working model, most likely going in office 2-3 times a week vs Morgan Stanley will be on average 60 hours a week in office full time. Is it worth the 30K extra in compensation to commute to office daily + 10-20 more hours per week? In terms of pay progression, I think Morgan Stanley will definitely be a lot fast

I’m sure this is not a unique situation, but would love y’all’s advice! I love my current agency and the work is easy and ngl it’s a big name and looks impressive on a resume. But, I’m currently being offered a new job at a small agency and the money is so so good, it would be a 60% raise and a title change. Graduating Ph.D. program 2021, received offer from tiny boutique for 140TC+random small boutique benefits. Would be better commute, non metro area closer to home. Waiting to hear back from well known life science boutique (think ZS, Clearview, Putnam). Offer would be for NYC office, would likely relocate.

If offer is given, a) at what $ is this worth and b) is brand everything for first firm out of school?

Also would the life science boutiques reasonably pay more than that?
