I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

Do anyone know about any HR ops vacancy?
As an ADC applying this summer for 2022 start, I haven’t gotten a chance to connect with any L.E.K. Consulting members and I really want to get to know the company better before moving on with my application. Any L.E.K. Consulting fish out there willing to spare a few minutes to chat about their work, the company, the culture etc? Thanks!

I hate to hear that and hope you're taking time and space to decompress from that experience. I personally believe a lot of people who look like us find better positions client side. It cuts out from having to deal with the (often) fabricated sense of urgency a lot of agencies have while still offering a space to be creative and add value.
Agency side, I see a lot of us on the creative and account side mostly and even then, we're few and far in between. I don't know if there's a solution besides changing the model on how agencies operate but having personally made the jump to client side, it'd take a LOT to entice me back over and even still I don't trust agencies to foster the types of spaces on which we can thrive without the burnout aspect. Hence, why people move.
That's my opinion though, interested to see what others may have to say.
AD1, my 1st foray into client side was awful NGL. It was with a sporting goods company who finally got rid of a certain celebrity partnership and that place was held together with tape and a prayer. So definitely do your research and source internal opinions before you apply.
And to be quite honest a recruiter reached out to me for it, I interviewed, and landed it. No magic formula was used.
For my current role, I went through creative circle. I used to think they were a bit sketchy but they called and worked with me to get me the roles I wanted and I interviewed and got it.
A Black co-worker showed me a dozen of email chains from her new manager… smh her manager takes ALL of her emails & re-write them before sending to the client. It’s not about incorrect spelling or grammar… I reviewed it…she replaces like “Hi with Hello”, changes font size to her liking, she wants her to use emojis throughout… and tells her when to send the emails and how to respond. And corrects how she speaks in front of the client! It is so belittling!
Wtf!! 😭😭😭 manager sounds 🥴
Yeah I went client side bc agencies underpaid me.
I see a lot in strategy, that’s about it. I’ve been the only creative everywhere I’ve been.
