I think in certain circles it would, but the network obviously helps less given much fewer Stamford Alums in Aus.
In my opinion, Australia places more emphasis on work experience vs education/MBA, so the Stanford MBA is more helpful when accompanied by impressive work experience.
Given the number of people with MBAs here is far fewer, I don't have a heap of data to support this view so others may have differing opinions.
Appreciate your perspective and insights!
Those that care about MBAs (which is few in Australia) know the top schools, so they know that GSB is undisputedly top 3. But as B1 said, the alumni network in Australia (and honestly beyond the Bay Area) is small (half the class size of HBS & Wharton), so you’ll struggle to recruit from campus to Australia (exception is MBB) and you’ll have a limited GSB (& Stanford undergrad) alumni for future Australian career moves. GSB would be great if you are hoping to go the startup route — you’ll have an in to many Bay Area VCs, especially if your concept is applicable to Australia & the US (like Canva & Atlassian).
HBS, Wharton, INSEAD and LBS have a much larger alumni presence in Australia if that really matters to you. (LBS also has an exchange program with Melbourne Business School and UNSW AGSM, so that expands their local alumni network as well.)
