Hi all -

I am currently a Senior Associate (Consultant) in the cloud & digital space - specifically within Salesforce consulting with a functional/non-tech background. I want to take advantage of this job market.

YOE: 4
Location: Washington DC (Tier 2)
TC: ~185k (148k base, 10k signing, 20% bonus)

Next milestone: 225-250k TC.

Would it be a more lucrative option long-term to move into Product Management? Or stay on the Salesforce path?

Thank you in advance!

Are you purely focused on comp? Even in this job market, I’d caution that that’s very short-sighted. What are your priorities in the role you’re looking for? If $ is your top priority when you’re making $185 total as a senior, I’m not sure this will make you any happier or is a realistic goal (even in salesforce domain). If you’re close to making manager, I’d focus on the skills you need to build. Otherwise you’ll jump ship and maybe have more money, but may run the risk of setting yourself back on overall progression (in terms of time it would take to grow / achieve / earn a promotion to the next level).

To be honest, it’s a higher determining factor.

TL;DR - Grew up lower middle class. Not terrible, but not the best. Family did not understand basic financial fundamental principles.

I do not mean to sound ungrateful, but given rising costs/inflation, HCOL, family & personal goals, I just wanted anecdotal takes on whether or not the Salesforce ladder or PM route would provide greater growth opportunities in the short term, intermediate, long term, etc.

I definitely see where you are coming from in terms of pursuing the next step. I left Tech in a near manager role to pursue Big 4 for consulting experience, brand, & comp increase.

You receive that signing annually? If no, not TC, so realign accordingly.

BAH1 - I hear you! On paper, it seems like everything is equivalent. That is awesome for an Associate! I may have to look into data analytics/science too 😂 jk!

What company is paying this for 4 YOE (non technical)? That’s really good if you ask me

like

Appreciate it! Def not easy, but a lot of help & mentorship 🙏🏽

I'd stay on the path you are on - because whatever you are doing - its paying off for you. Your pay is amazing for your YOE / Non-Tech role.

I definitely get that G1. I appreciate the opinion! I feel very confident in the cloud space & skills are relatively transferable on the functional side, but also wanted to see if others felt more strongly about the floor/ceiling for product management.

like

What company are you at?

Deloitte!

This is wild! I’m 120 at 3.5 years. Seriously..you should be proud. That’s amazing

Bro/sis - you’ll be right there before you know it! I was as well until this past year. Keep grinding & evaluating your value. You got this 💪🏽

Hi Fishes

I need help to decide
I have got 2 offers
1. Tigerhall - 45LPA
2. Zupee - 42LPA
Which one I should choose?
In Tigerhall, I will get a lot of free time as the work is same as what I have done so far in my career therefore, I can focus on more things now.
In Zupee, I will get to learn new skill which might be good for my career.
Also, comparatively in hand salary of Tigerhall is higher than Zupee (it will less tax deduction as it's a Singapore based company)

I do sales for a major engineering firm. Focused on new business and exploring new markets. Last year I was in the top 50% for order intake, and first in number of projects won along with number of new customers. I think this is extraordinary given the effort it takes to win new business.

For next year my goal increased by 2.5X, and less of what I bring in counts towards that target. I really enjoy my job but I will essentially be getting a large pay cut. Lost in what to do besides quit??

Please help. I’ve moved up the ranks pretty quickly at the company I work for to become a Principal SE. My manager thinks the best next step for me is to move into management and leadership and has started pushing me to apply for an engineering manager role. They say that I will be a good fit because of my strong technical background paired with the leadership and people skills I display currently.

I’m torn because I do love being an IC but I’m interested in leadership also. What do I do?

Looking to move to SG from US for personal reasons. Does anyone have a headhunter that they’d recommend? Experience in consulting and HF. Thanks

Friend of mine was supposed to receive an offer (told verbally) from Deloitte and then just found out they are pausing on hiring the role. How common is that? Seems wildly unprofessional that none of the partners called and instead it was the recruiter conveying that news. At McKinsey, if that happened, the head of the practice or the office would personally make the phone call at the very least.
