You should inform your manager and HR as well. Keep the record of it either in email or messages. You may be on probation in first 6 months so check your maternity rights during your pregnancy.
Step 1: inform your doctor, start a paper trail.
Step 2: inform HR not project, ask for privacy or disclosure on travel needs.
Step 3: align with doctor on what they will recommend,
They can’t fire you for not traveling. And they won’t.
Congrats SC! Good advice but know they can fire you for no reason at all in the US. Or just call it a layoff or bench time. One of the rare instances I would talk confidentially to HR.
Wait until you fit your 4-5 month before you announce anything. I know it’s illegal for companies to discriminate against pregnant women, but there are subtle ways they do it legally. Take it from a grandmother who has lived it and also watched my daughters battle the same bias.
