any telltale signs of layoffs in tiger?
Thought this was interesting. Across 160 teams of researchers, just about all failed to make good life outcome predictions on things like GPA, evictions, layoffs, and others. Data followed 4.5k families across 15 years, with 13k features (varied over time). Haven't looked at it directly yet, but will be turning the docs and data inside out... In the meantime, authors claim this as showing the limits of ML. Oh, and it's published in PNAS, so you know there's some big publication energy there.

So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

Roger is part of Uworld now. I currently have both Uworld and Surgent. Surgent is cheaper but their lectures and app are crappy. The questions and simulations are very good though. Uworld is a more rounded system and they have the best lecturers for every topic. My favorite is their once per quarter bootcamps where they pretty much dumb down and cram the entire material into 4 hours. If you know by heart what they say in these 4 hours, and do the tests, you should pretty much pass…
