In addition he/she would have the opportunity to build and lead a team of other advisors.
For a candidate with 12+ years of experience what would be an appropriate compensation structure (base plus commission %)

I’m a new patent prosecution associate and unfortunately only just now realized that maybe prosecuting patents isn’t something I want to do long term. I loved copyright (and trademark) in law school, but I have loans to pay off. Should I stick it out in my current role to pay them off before I jump ship to a new practice area or will I be pigeonholed forever to patents if I stay here for 2-3 years?

Received verbal offer for position that I’m considering. Assuming I accept, recruiter advised not to give notice until after clearing background check. I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.
