Is building a personal website using Wordpress a good way to stand out as a PM candidate (junior) or is it better to code it from scratch? - I have some coding knowledge but mostly concerned if hiring managers would care.

I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented. I'm looking to make a career switch so I can both create and execute on my strategies. A product management path seems very promising for this.

Does anyone who switched from consulting to product management have any recommendations of h helpful PM books, courses, or programs?

I have been looking at the curriculums for Harvard Business School's Master of Business Administration and Harvard Extension School's Master's in Management. They both have the same requirements, generally speaking, including a field immersion course that serves as a capstone in the Master's in Management, which is fairly new. If I am not able to gain admission to Harvard Business School, but wanted a similar educational experience to become a consultant, should I attend Harvard Extension?

Where are all the proper ACDs at? Either it's senior/mid creatives who have been promoted too early or ACDs who did the job for a year and are now freelancing as creative directors.

So I had been working as medical interpreter up to the early part of this year. Today, during an interview, the Director with whom I was interviewing genuinely urged me to consider pursuing a career as a PA or even attempt to go to medical school. Has anyone found roles in Big 4 or industry that allowed more work life balance when their kids were young without damaging future career trajectory? I'm a partner with young kids and feel like I'm missing out on too much of their lives. Wishful, but my dream job would have a lighter workload in terms of time and pressure for the next ~5 years, but not set me back too much (or at all) when the kids are older and tired of me in a few years and I'm ready to be back at work full force.

I’m considering a less sales-oriented role that doesn’t pay commission. The new role will have a higher base but lower overall earning potential.

What % haircut should be expected? As an example, if I make 100k (base + commission) today, would it be realistic to ask for 90k (10% cut) + equity to make up the difference?

For the NJ folks who work in NYC - my potential new employer has offices in both NJ and NYC. The NJ office is a 1.5 hour drive vs. NYC ~40 min commute via train. Still very much hybrid work arrangement. Given the option, which office would you prefer to be based out of and why? Mostly asking from a tax perspective. Hey folks,

I am supposed to join PwC India (management consulting) in 3 weeks. PWC offered me a 23% hike on base pay which was fine 2 months back.

Now in efforts to retain, my firm is revising pay and will probably match that hike and there will also be a 20% bonus.

Can I use these data points to leverage a joining bonus from PwC? What are your thoughts?
