My base loc is Bengaluru, but currently I am not mandatorily required to work from office, and have been working from home since I joined Deloitte in July. Should I talk to my manager and go back to my hometown Kolkata and work from there? Staying in PG all day and working from here is not quite feasible for me. Suggest pls. Deloitte India

Have you checked on FMLA? I would imagine if you are qualified for that, a US company can’t fire you while you are on FMLA.
Otherwise, there’s no job security.
Thank you! EY provides 6 months of compassionate leave of absence without Pay. Hoping things open up by then.
I just got it stamped( regular h1b stamping appointment not EA) and I am back in the US now..
you are exempt from the ban if you fall in either of these categories : 1) You were in the US before the ban came into place (May/June 2020) or 2) your employer is part of chamber of commerce (Deloitte is part of coc) ... If it's urgent just book an appointment ..
DA 1 if your status was active then you should be fine...(doesn't matter if visa was expired) ..also I believe the date was June 24th 2020..
For tax and employment law reasons, we are putting EEs on a unpaid LOA in circumstances like yours.

My spouse was transferred to the Indian payroll while his i140 was under processing. Not sure the Big 4 will do this though.
Delhi U.S embassy is open for drop box and in-person H1b appointments from Feb 1st.

I believe only EAs are being processed right now.
Hey there! I'm currently in India and had my visa approved (F1 to H1) couple of weeks earlier at Delhi embassy.
The visa stamp states that I am "Exempt from the proclamation - PP10052". Planning to fly back to US in 2 weeks time
As Deloitte 3 mentioned below, one is exempt from the travel ban based on those 2 conditions. EY is a member of the US Chamber of Commerce too (As mentioned on the sharepoint site)
