May I ask your current CTC?
When you're a functional guy, you are paid lesser than a technical person, but, you can switch ERPs once you have enough experience in business processes and projects.
Functional roles also require a LOT of analytical thinking, AND ability to navigate through politics and being in meetings with annoying stakeholders. It's definitely a difficult role, in my opinion.
If you go the with functional roles, try and get a full time (not part time Or distance) MBA if possible.
With technical roles, you are paid better than a functional guy with the same experience, but your growth can be limited by your technology stack. Plus, keeping yourself updated constantly is harder as a technical person.
Thanks for your reply…
Cctc is around 25 ..
i am looking at larger picture where i become technology agnostic and look at any technology in generic way.
In technology role, after 1/2 year i dont see much vacancy to move companies and constantly increase my relevance as well as package. Whereas i see that in functional roles i can switch technologies after certain tenure like 1/2 years .
Regarding pay.. i see that i m paid same as any technical guy now but moving ahead like 5-10 years down the lane.. what do you suggest and your preference. Also if you can tell me about your experience and expertise it will be great. Thanks again !!
Regarding mba.. i think after 7/8 years looking at the opportunity cost .. i m not sure if that makes lot of sense for me to pursue mba.
