Hi guys, I'm a senior graphic designer looking to tap into the Canadian market. Choosing Canada because it seems like the best shot I have currently for my family's future, but I'm starting to feel a bit lost.

I believe I am very capable of doing good work, but my situation makes me unappealing to Canadian employers (no work visa, not in Canada). My hope is to work remotely to build up my Canadian experience but at the same time, it's hard to even get started there. Any tips?

What’s the culture like at H+K? I get the impression that it’s a lot more up tight than other big agencies. I get old school, suited up, lobbying type PR vibes but I could be wrong.

What’s your favorite truck on the market right now (full or mid)?
Finally decided to get a truck (for various reasons, I’ll spare you the details). I really like Tacomas, but I’m 6’3, 230lbs and it kind of feels too small/narrow when I’m sitting in it. Not sure I need a full size truck, although I would love one! TIA

I work as an AGM in a busy restaurant. Been working there for just over a year, and haven't had a single raise. I now only make 0.50 cents more than even the lowest paid shift lead but I am doing a lot more work. I'm no longer satisfied with these conditions. I received an offer (28 Lakhs + 3.9 Lakhs incentive) from Novartis for Sr Project Manager yesterday. This was just 13.6% more than my current earnings as Project Manager. I've given the reasons why I deserve at least 30% to HR. In response to that, HR has sent 2nd offer i.e. 29 Lakhs + 4 Lakhs incentive + 50k sign-on bonus. The 2nd offer is just 18.2% higher than my current earnings. Need your suggestion, if I could still negotiate with HR to finalize deal by asking for 25% hike?

What’s a Photoshop habit/technique you know is frowned upon but you continue to do out of convenience? Mine is destructive editing by changing adjustments directly instead of using a new adjustment layer (but only for simple projects). 🤦🏻‍♀️

If you see an open job posting at a company you want to work for, what steps do you take to apply? I’ve been told that cold applying and making no contacts is usually not going to lead to anything, and that’s been true in my experience. But should I reach out to someone first? Should i apply and then email someone? In HR? Or someone who’d be directly supervising me? Or someone at my level? And what should i say? Thanks!

I started out as a graphic designer. Worked for about 4yrs in different roles. Then i started a digital design role for 2 yrs and then made my transition into ux. i have been in a ux role for 5 years. But i want to steer my career towards something more creative. Like in 5-10 years I wouldn’t want to be a specialist or a ux director. I d like to be an art director or creative director. I love branding & marketing but also product. Would love something that allows me to do both?

How do you get used to someone looking over your shoulder and watch you design? It makes me so nervous

Where do you keep your non-library original components in Figma? Do you put them to the side outside of a working frame, within its own “Components” page (like Sketch does for Symbols), or do you keep the original directly inside of one of your layouts?
